Jerusalem, 4 January, 2026 (TPS-IL) — An Israeli court on Sunday sentenced former Palestinian informant Ibrahim Shalhoub to life imprisonment for the 2024 murder of an 83-year-old Holocaust survivor.
According to the indictment, Shalhoub repeatedly stabbed Ludmila Lipovsky outside her assisted-living facility in Herzliya as she waited for her daughter to pick her up for a medical appointment.
Prosecutors said Shalhoub stabbed Lipovsky approximately 11 times in the upper body while shouting “Allah is great” and reciting prayers in Arabic. Lipovsky was critically wounded and later died from her injuries.
The Tel Aviv District Court also ordered Shalhoub to pay NIS 258,000 ($81,000) to Lipovsky’s family.
Court filings noted that he had previously served as an informant for the Israel Security Agency (Shin Bet), though this did not mitigate the severity of the sentence.
Lipovsky was born in Russia and survived the Holocaust after fleeing east during World War II, spending the war years in Samarkand, in what is now Uzbekistan. She later immigrated to Israel.
