An organized network for smuggling infiltrators was exposed – following an investigation by the Jerusalem Envelope Border Police’s Investigative and Intelligence Unit and the Tactical Division, three suspects and 22 illegal infiltrators were arrested.

Israel Police exposed an infiltrator smuggling network, arresting three suspects and 22 illegal residents during a multi-location operation.

Crime

During the investigation, advanced intelligence operations, surveillance, and evidence collection were carried out using various means, which culminated in an operational activity. In May, undercover officers and detectives from the Tactical Division, in cooperation with the Tactical Division’s drone unit and Border Police fighters from the Jerusalem Envelope, operated and raided a minibus traveling on Highway 1 from Jerusalem towards the center of the country. The minibus carried 22 illegal residents and an additional Israeli suspect, a resident of Kafr Aqab in his 40s, suspected of transporting them. Concurrently, forces operated at two additional locations in Jerusalem, where two Israeli suspects, a father and son in their 50s and 20s, residents of Ras al-Amud, were arrested on suspicion of managing a network for smuggling illegal residents. All suspects were transferred for further investigation at the Jerusalem Envelope Border Police Investigation Unit. Upon completion of the investigation and the formation of the evidentiary foundation, indictments were filed last week against the father and son for managing a network for smuggling illegal residents and conspiracy to commit a crime, against the suspect who transported the illegal residents, and against one of the illegal residents arrested during the operation.
