Jerusalem, 28 January, 2026 (TPS-IL) — BIRD Energy, a program that promotes collaboration between Israeli and American companies, announces that the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), the Israeli Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure, and the Israel Innovation Authority will invest $4.4 million in three joint projects for companies from both countries in the energy fields. The total investment in the projects will amount to approximately $9.7 million, of which $5.3 million will be financed by the private sector.

Each project that receives a grant involves a collaboration between an American and an Israeli company, or a company and a university, with the goal of developing and commercializing clean energy technologies, improving market competitiveness, creating jobs, and promoting technological innovation. The project selection process is carried out through a rigorous screening process aimed at selecting innovative projects with a high probability of commercial success and a positive impact on the market. The projects are required to bear at least 50% of their costs, with a commitment to repay the grant in the event of commercial success.

The three approved projects are:

The Israeli company Capow and the American company Avridh Technologies (known as Peer Robotics) will develop an autonomous pallet truck that operates continuously, without the need for charging.

The Israeli company EVA Environmental Viable Solutions and the American company Bayshore Recycling Corp will develop low-energy cement from building materials and waste.

The Israeli company IDE Water Technologies and the American Northwestern University will collaborate on developing technology to improve the treatment of municipal wastewater and expand the scope of water reuse.

Independence and security” Act of 2007, which was approved by the U.S. Congress. The program was approved by the Israeli government in 2008 and expanded by government decision in 2024. The program focuses on promoting sustainable energy technologies, with the aim of improving economic competitiveness, creating jobs, and strengthening energy security.
