The first Israeli delegation to Kazakhstan since the country’s announcement of joining the Abraham Accords, led by Minister for Regional Cooperation MK David Amsalem, and joined by the ministry’s Director-General Gilad Shadmon and representatives of government companies, held a series of official meetings in Astana and Almaty.
During the visit, two Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs) were signed:
- With Kazakhstan’s Minister of Water Resources, Nurzhigitov, for regional cooperation in the field of water — focusing on Israeli technologies for water reclamation, efficiency, and agricultural innovation.
- With Kazakhstan’s Minister of education, Zhuldyz Suleimenova, for cooperation in the field of special education — including a year-long training program for regional instructors to begin in Israel this coming February.
Minister Amsalem emphasized the importance of water reclamation and special education as key tools for building a shared future between the countries.
Additionally, an olive tree was planted in the Astana Botanical Garden as a symbol of the growing friendship between Israel and Kazakhstan, and a meeting was held with Almaty’s Governor, Darkhan Satybaldy, focusing on strengthening regional ties, renewing direct flights, and promoting joint projects in education and ecology.
The visit concluded on an optimistic note, with both sides expressing their commitment to advancing practical and fruitful cooperation in the fields of water, education, and innovation — marking another step forward in deepening the partnership between Israel and Kazakhstan for the benefit of both nations.
