Israeli Startup Brings Fiber-Optic AI Monitoring to Germany’s Transmission Lines
Israeli company Prisma Photonics is partnering with Germany's TransnetBW to test AI-powered fiber-optic monitoring on 120 km of transmission lines.
Jerusalem, 5 March, 2026 (TPS-IL) — Israel-based Prisma Photonics is working with Germany’s TransnetBW to test its PrismaPower monitoring technology on three high-voltage transmission lines totaling 120 kilometers. The two-year program uses AI and fiber-optic sensors to track wind and line conditions in real time, helping the grid carry more renewable energy without building new infrastructure.
TransnetBW has been exploring dynamic line rating since 2019 to handle more wind and solar power. Prisma Photonics’ system uses existing fiber networks to improve grid flexibility and reliability while supporting Germany’s climate and energy transition goals.
