Jerusalem, 28 April, 2026 (TPS-IL) — The Israeli agency COGAT (Coordinator of the Government Activities in the Territories) refuted allegations made by Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF), also known as Doctors without Borders, that Israel is “weaponizing” water in Gaza as “baseless.”
“Assertions that Israel uses water as a ‘weapon’ are factually incorrect and ignore a simple truth: the only party weaponizing humanitarian aid is Hamas,” said COGAT. “It is disappointing, though not surprising, that an organization like MSF, which refuses to even designate Hamas as a terror group, continues to echo its propaganda.”
COGAT explained that the water supply in Gaza “consistently exceeds humanitarian thresholds.”

Birkat Said & Bani Suheila: 14,000–16,000 cubic meters on average per day
Nahal Oz Line: 16,000 cubic meters on average per day
Emirati Line: 5,000 cubic meters on average per day
Desalination: 18,400 cubic meters on average per day

Well over 70,000 cubic meters of water are facilitated daily
“Far from ‘preventing’ access, Israel facilitates and provides water from its own sources,” said COGAT. “We’ve activated 4 water lines, coordinated vital repairs, connected power lines to facilities, and consistently delivered fuel for WASH infrastructure in coordination with the UN, UNICEF and the ICRC.”
“MSF’s claims are a desperate attempt to regain legitimacy after losing its professional and moral direction,” it added.
MSF had stated on Twitter that “Israeli authorities have used access to water as a weapon against Palestinians, systematically depriving people in Gaza of water in a campaign of collective punishment.”
