Israel and US Investing Together in Development of Energy Solutions
Israel and US governments invest $12 million in developing future energy solutions, combating climate crisis and resource pressure through the Israel-US Energy.
Jerusalem, 17 February, 2026 (TPS-IL) — The Israeli and US governments are expanding cooperation in the energy sector and investing millions of dollars in developing future energy solutions. Against the backdrop of the climate crisis, population growth, and increasing pressure on water, energy, and raw material resources, the Israel-US Energy Center, managed by the BIRD Foundation, will allocate $12 million in grants to consortiums in the fields of energy storage, fossil energy, and water-energy interfaces.
As part of the call, grants of $6 million each will be awarded to two selected consortiums. This amount will be accompanied by complementary funding (Cost Sharing) from the partners, so that the total budget of each consortium will be approximately $12 million for a period of three years in order to promote the development and implementation of groundbreaking technologies. Submissions for executive summaries for the consortiums will be accepted until May 14, 2026. The Energy Center was established with the aim of strengthening energy security and promoting economic growth in both countries through collaborations in research and development. The center’s activities connect industrial companies, start-ups, research institutions and universities from Israel and the United States, and encourage applied innovation with high commercial potential.
The Israel-US Energy Center’s activities were approved by the us congress in 2014, within the framework of the US-Israel Strategic Cooperation Act. In 2018, the implementation agreement was signed by the energy ministers of the two countries, and the center is budgeted by them equally.
The BIRD Foundation was established by the U.S. and Israeli governments in 1977 to generate mutually beneficial cooperation between U.S. and Israeli companies.
