Eilat residents suspected of mass counterfeit imports
Eilat business owners are under investigation for importing thousands of counterfeit luxury items, falsely declaring them as personal packages to customs to.
The Tax Authority – through the Ben Gurion Airport Customs Import Control Unit, in cooperation with the Eilat Special Patrol Unit, is conducting an investigation against two business owners in Eilat who imported thousands of luxury brand items with false declarations to customs. The scope of the offenses is estimated at approximately ₪700,000.
The investigation reveals that the suspects operate online platforms for the sale of shoes, bags, and fashion accessories from luxury brands such as Chanel, Dior, Adidas, and Nike. According to suspicion, the two carried out large-scale commercial imports while presenting false declarations to customs, claiming they were personal packages valued at less than $75, in order to evade commercial VAT payment.
The suspects were released under restrictive conditions. The investigation is ongoing.
