Urban Renewal with New Housing Planned for Kiryat Shmona, Hard Hit by War
Jerusalem, 11 August, 2025 (TPS-IL) — The Ministry of Urban Development will promote a huge urban renewal plan in Kiryat Shmona, a “frontline” community on the border with Lebanon. This plan includes approximately 1,265 housing units, in a diverse mix, public buildings and open spaces, and will constitute a significant lever of growth for the city that suffered a severe blow during the war.
The plan is part of a process of rehabilitation, growth and renewal with the aim of strengthening social resilience, increasing and establishing an existing and new population in the city, and is integrated into a broad development momentum in Kiryat Shmona alongside other programs promoted in the city within the framework of the national Urban Development Plan.
It includes seven evacuation and construction plans in the city in different neighborhoods, totaling over 4,000 new housing units.
