Jerusalem, 18 August, 2025 (TPS-IL) — The Chief Rabbis of Israel called on parents in Haredi (ultra-orthodox) communities to take extra precautions to keep their children safe.

So far in 2025, six Haredi children have lost their lives in tragic accidents – on the roads, by drowning and by suffocation.

In the last five years, 93 Haredi children were killed and about 30,000 required medical treatment due to injuries from accidents, most of which were preventable, at home, on the road and at leisure.

A child from the Haredi sector has a 1.3 times higher chance of dying than non-Haredi children, said the Chief Rabbinate’s office.
