Breaking News

Jerusalem, 27 July, 2025 (TPS-IL) — The United Arab Emirates has begun transferring equipment from Egypt to Gaza’s Al-Mawasi area to build a new water line, Israeli defense officials said Sunday.

The project, approved weeks ago by Israel’s political and military leadership, will connect Al-Mawasi to a desalination plant in Egypt, according to the Coordinator of Government Activities in the Territories (COGAT), a military unit that coordinates civilian issues in Judea, Samaria and Gaza.

Once operational, it is expected to provide clean water to around 600,000 residents and function independently of Israeli infrastructure. Equipment entered Gaza via the Kerem Shalom crossing after security inspection. Construction is slated to begin in the coming days and continue for several weeks.
