Trump to Receive Israeli Presidential Medal of Honor
President Isaac Herzog will award US President Donald Trump the Israeli Presidential Medal of Honor for advancing peace and securing the release of hostages.
Jerusalem, 13 October, 2025 (TPS-IL) — President Isaac Herzog announced Monday that he will award US President Donald Trump the Israeli Presidential Medal of Honor, the country’s highest civilian distinction, in recognition of his role in advancing the release of hostages and ending the war in Gaza.
Herzog will formally inform Trump of the decision during their meeting at the Knesset on Monday. The medal will be presented in a future ceremony.
The President’s Office cited Trump’s “steadfast support for Israel,” his contribution to regional peace, and his role in achieving “historic agreements” as reasons for the award. Herzog said Trump’s “legacy will be remembered for generations by the State of Israel and the Jewish people.”
