Transportation Infrastructure in North Expanding

Jerusalem, 24 November, 2025 (TPS-IL) — The National Infrastructure Committee (NIC) today (Monday) approved for submission Israel’s Ministry of Transportation’s plan to regulate infrastructure facilities for operating public bus transportation in the north of the country. This is within the framework of the strategic plan for infrastructure facilities promoted by the minister of Transportation, Miri Regev, as part of a broad move to create a national operational infrastructure for the benefit of reliable, frequent, and electric service.

The Ministry said the new facilities constitute a central pillar in the implementation of the Ministry of Transportation’s strategic plan for 2040, within the framework of which approximately 650 infrastructure facilities will be established for operating public transportation nationwide, as part of the effort to increase the use of public transportation, improve service reliability, and expand the fleet of electric buses.

The approved plan includes three facilities that constitute “essential operational infrastructure” for the existing fleet and the expected growth in demand: Karmiel East Integrated Facility, Ilut Junction Overnight Parking in Nazareth, and Ziv Hospital Terminal in Safed.
