Jerusalem, 7 August, 2025 (TPS-IL) — Israel’s Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure will invest tens of millions of shekels in the coastal city of Ashkelon in improving energy infrastructure, replacing garbage trucks with clean electric trucks, establishing charging stations for electric vehicles, establishing green renewable energy infrastructure for emergencies, creating economic growth engines for the city, and more.
As part of the decision, the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure will allocate a designated budget for the years 2025–2029, for the benefit of sustainable energy projects on municipal properties. Among the areas that will be budgeted for:
Energy efficiency and smart energy management
Construction of low-voltage storage systems (for the years 2025–2026 only), with a support rate of up to 30% of the project cost.
AC charging infrastructure for electric vehicles in public spaces
Replacing the municipal operational vehicle fleet, with an emphasis on garbage trucks, with electric vehicles.
