The Tax Authority– through the Jerusalem VAT Audit Department, in cooperation with the Jerusalem VAT Customs and VAT Investigation Department and the Eilat Customs and VAT House- is conducting an investigation against a couple residing in the Beit Hanina neighborhood in East Jerusalem, on suspicion of concealing millions of NIS in income.

The couple runs a cosmetic treatment clinic, which provides laser hair removal, fat reduction, and beauty injections. The couple, Nadia Seifi, is registered as the manager and owner of the business, while her spouse- Dr. Faiz Seifi, an anesthesiologist by training- performs the injections.

The initial investigation shows that from 2019 to the present, the clinic had income of approximately 5.3 million NIS from credit clearing only, while the business owner is registered with the VAT offices as an exempt trader (an exempt trader is a trader whose income does not exceed 120,000 NIS per year). Her spouse, who works as a senior doctor in a hospital, does not report to the VAT at all. Over the years, no VAT reports have been filed.

As part of the investigation, searches were conducted yesterday at the business premises and computers, mobile phones, security cameras and accounting books were seized. The couple and the clinic employees were later brought for questioning at the Jerusalem VAT offices, after which the couple were brought before a judge at the Jerusalem Magistrate’s Court and released under restrictive conditions.

Their investigation is ongoing.
