Gil Tanenbaum Breaking News

Jerusalem, 17 September, 2025 (TPS-IL) — The removal of the massive fuel/oil tank farms in Haifa and the Kiryat Haim neighborhood began on Wednesday as an energy infrastructure company started the project to evacuate the northern row of tanks near Kiryat Haim.

As part of the first phase of the evacuations, the northern row of containers, which includes nine containers adjacent to the residential buildings and educational institutions on Degania Street, will be demolished. Later, there is an intention to also evacuate the inner containers that are further away from the residential area.

“This evacuation is really good news, which the residents of Haifa and the surrounding areas have been waiting for for decades, as this is a complex for storing hazardous materials, located in close proximity to residential buildings, educational institutions, and business complexes,” said the Ministry of Energy.
