Description: The Ministry of Health reports a rabid jackal in an area near Kibbutz Yiftach in the Upper Galilee. Two people who were exposed to the jackal were referred for preventive rabies treatment. The report of the rabid jackal was received on November 26, 2025.
Dates: November 10, 2024 through November 24, 2024, inclusive.

Guidance:
We ask anyone who was exposed—or whose animals were exposed—in the incident area to the rabid animal or to a stray animal on the dates listed above to urgently contact the Safed Health Bureau at 04-6994257 or 04-6994200, or the health bureau closest to their residence, to determine whether preventive treatment is needed.
After business hours and on weekends, please go to a hospital emergency department.
Please share this information with hikers, visitors, and residents in the area and nearby communities.

Pet owners should contact the municipal veterinarian / Eastern Galilee Cluster veterinarian (*8451) to verify their pets’ vaccination status.

Parents are asked to check with their children to see whether they had contact with any suspicious animals and to contact the health bureau immediately if needed.
