Jerusalem, 12 June, 2025 (TPS-IL) — The Israel Police reported that enforcement operations against loud noise from mosques have begun and that three citations for noise were filed against mosques in the cities of Ramla and Lod. These cities, located near Tel Aviv, have large Arab populations.
In accordance with the policy of the Minister of National Security, the Commissioner-General instructed the district commanders to act in cooperation with the Environmental Protection Section of the police, with the aim of enforcing loud and unusual noise during rest hours, while giving emphasis to mosques that operate public address systems at an unusually high volume.
“This is against the backdrop of numerous complaints and reports received from residents living near mosques, according to which, starting in the early morning hours, those public address systems are operated in a manner that disrupts their rest, in violation of the Noise Pollution Prevention Law,” said the police.
As part of the first operation that took place last night, Central District police officers operated in the cities of Ramla, Lod, Kafr Qassem, Tira and Tayibe, where the noise intensity near six mosques was tested, with three of them found to have an abnormal noise intensity in violation of the law and in a manner that could harm the population, and enforcement reports were filed against them.
