Jerusalem, 2 October, 2025 (TPS-IL) — In a statement issued tonight, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu implied that UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer’s stance on the war in Gaza and the recognition of a Palestinian state had contributed to the terrorist attack in Manchester today, at which two people were murdered in a synagogue.
Netanyahu emphasised this point in a post on X, writing: ‘As I warned at the UN, weakness in the face of terrorism only breeds more terrorism. Only strength and unity can defeat it.”
The Prime Minister added that, “Israel mourns with the Jewish community in the UK after the barbaric terrorist attack in Manchester. Our hearts are with the families of those murdered, and we pray for the speedy recovery of those injured.’
Speaking at the United Nations last week, the Israeli Prime Minister warned world leaders, including Starmer, who recognised a Palestinian state: “You cannot appease jihadists, and you cannot escape the Islamist storm by sacrificing Israel. To weather this storm, you must stand with Israel. But that is not what you are doing.’
