Jerusalem, 11 August, 2025 (TPS-IL) — Israel’s National Infrastructure Committee (NIC) approved today (Monday) the advancement of the national infrastructure plan “The Galilee Railway,” which will connect Tiberias and the Eastern Galilee to the national railway network.
In addition, the selected alternative for the Galilee Railway route was approved, which includes a rail corridor approximately 64 kilometers long that will connect Tiberias and the Upper Galilee to the national rail network. The new rail will connect to the north to the Karmiel-Kiryat Shmona rail, and to the south to the HaEmek rail via the Menashe rail, and will allow continuous travel on the Eastern Boulevard to Ben Gurion Airport, Jerusalem and Beer Sheva, without the need to pass through the coastal rail in the Kiryat Shmona and Haifa areas.
The “Galilee Railway” is a strategic project of great significance in the north, which will connect Tiberias and the Eastern Galilee region to the national railway network for passengers and freight, and will upgrade the connection of northern settlements to centers of employment, education, health, commerce and tourism in the Haifa metropolis and all parts of the country.
According to the plan, the project’s train stations will be built in spatial employment areas and development centers and will enable connectivity and accessibility to the national rail network as well as connectivity to the Nofit Railway at the leading interchange, thus allowing for a significant increase in accessibility for all residents of the area.
