Plan to Add 1,900 Housing Units in Southern Jerusalem Neighborhood Moves Forward
Jerusalem, 7 August, 2025 (TPS-IL) — The Jerusalem District Committee decided to deposit (for future approval) the Israel Land Authority’s plan for the construction of 1,900 housing units in the city’s Gilo neighborhood. This is part of the “Southeast Gilo” plan, for the expansion on Jerusalem’s southernmost neighborhood.
The plan covers a total area of 40 acres, is located on the southeastern edge of the Gilo neighborhood and includes 1,900 housing units to be built in 6 towers of 24-30 floors, alongside 7-9-story buildings with a shared inner courtyard. Of the total housing units, 380 are designated for rental for a period of 15 years.
In addition to the housing units, the plan includes 5,000 square meters of commercial space to be built on commercial frontages and approximately 50,000 square meters for public buildings.
