Jerusalem, 26 May, 2025 (TPS-IL) — In light of the significant shortage of doctors in Israel, over 300 doctors and medical students participated in the MedEx event, held on Sunday (May 25, 2025) in Paris, with the aim of providing them with a fast, professional and supportive path to immigration and absorption in Israel, in order to strengthen the Israeli health system.
As part of the event, over 40 applications for medical license conversion were submitted to the Ministry of Health.
Since the beginning of 2024, approximately 650 doctors from around the world have immigrated to Israel, with approximately 130 doctors having immigrated since the beginning of 2025.
MedEx is part of a broad national program led by the Ministry of the Negev, Galilee and National Resilience, the Ministry of Aliyah and Absorption, the Ministry of Health, and the “Nefesh B’Nefesh” organization, in cooperation with the Jewish Agency, supported by the Marcus Foundation, the Gottesman Foundation, the Jewish Federations of North America, the Azrieli Foundation, and the Arison Foundation.
As part of the program, MedEx events were held for the first time in Paris, Buenos Aires, London, and Los Angeles in 2024, which received a high response and are expected to expand to additional destinations around the world in the coming year, with the goal of bringing approximately 2,000 Jewish doctors from abroad to Israel within five years.
