Palestinian Journalists Syndicate Issues Rare Rebuke of Hamas After Reporters Attacked
Jerusalem, 21 July, 2025 (TPS-IL) — In a rare move, the Palestinian Journalists Syndicate strongly condemned the assault on several journalists by Hamas-endangering-civilians-inflating-casualty-claims/” class=”auto-internal-link”>Hamas security forces near Nasser Hospital in Khan Yunis, southern Gaza. Victims included Khaled Shaat Canaan News Agency, Hayat Radio), Mohamed Salama (Al Jazeera cameraman), and Abdullah Al-Attar (Anadolu Agency).
The syndicate, which is affiliated with the Palestinian Authority, condemned these actions as “a flagrant violation of press freedom and threatens the safety of journalists.” The announcement included a photo of one of three journalists showing injuries on his arm.
The Fatah-dominated organization, which represents Palestinian journalists, infrequently criticized media restrictions in the Palestinian Authority or Gaza.
