Jerusalem, 5 June, 2025 (TPS-IL) — At the initiative of Israel’s Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure, a plan to establish an underground infrastructure corridor near Highway 90 – which runs along Israel’s eastern border from below the Dead Sea down to Eilat – for the Eilat, Negev and Arava regions was submitted for government approval.
This is a section approximately 160 km long.
The goal of the plan is to maintain a common strip for all underground infrastructure, including natural gas, fuel, electricity, communications, water and sewage – all in one corridor, in order to optimize land use, save on separate planning procedures for each infrastructure, reduce times for the construction of infrastructure lines that will enter the strip, and free up areas and land for other uses. To date, the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure has promoted over 600 kilometers of integrated and common strips for underground infrastructure.
