Jerusalem, 21 July, 2025 (TPS-IL) — For the first time in Israel: The Ministry of Health is publishing for public comment on a new law memorandum that will regulate the nursing profession in primary legislation – and is expected to “fundamentally change the legal and professional status of the profession in Israel.”
“This is a comprehensive and significant move that is expected to change the face of the nursing profession in Israel, while establishing the status of nurses as a critical component of the healthcare system’s medical teams,” said the Ministry.
Within the framework of the proposed law, all areas of training, powers, licensing conditions, the division of roles and the distinction between different professional levels – from the practical nurse to the specialist nurse – will be regulated for the first time. In addition, the law establishes the definitions of the unique actions that are permitted to be performed only by those with appropriate training, the ethical and disciplinary obligations, and it creates clear supervision and enforcement mechanisms, including the management of a state registry for nurses and brothers according to professional classification.
