Jerusalem, 13 August, 2025 (TPS-IL) — The Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security is establishing a Senior Division for the Promotion of Israeli Agriculture, which will work to strengthen and promote local agriculture, as part of strengthening settlement in the geographical periphery of the State of Israel.
This move is all the more necessary in light of the “Iron Swords” war, explained the Ministry, which has not yet ended, given the new security challenges, climate change, the aging of the generation engaged in agriculture, a decline in the skilled workforce for agriculture, and the need to reduce dependence on imports and strengthen national food security and local agriculture.
The Ministry will work through the department to prepare a young and continuing generation of farmers, among other things, through the establishment of a youth headquarters for agriculture that will promote the advancement of a work program for education for agricultural work and the development of a dedicated track for agricultural education while integrating the agricultural youth villages, an IDF recruitment program, and a program for training and work in agriculture after military service, combined with tailored academic studies. In addition, the department will work to reinforce these messages among Israeli children through the education system, local authorities, and various community relations.
The division will work in collaboration with all production councils, the kibbutz movement, and the moshavim movement, in order to realize the vision and advance the aforementioned goals.
