More Than 80% of Israelis Feel Safe in Their Homes

Jerusalem, 10 August, 2025 (TPS-IL) — Israel’s Central Bureau of Statistics released the data from its “Findings from the 2024 Personal Security Survey.

Feeling of personal security of those aged 20 and over:

On the feeling of personal safety in residential areas in general, 80.2% of respondents indicated that they felt safe in their residential area in general. The rate among men is higher than the rate among women (81.9% compared to 78.5%, respectively).

The highest rate of residents who feel safe in their residential area (86.0%) is in Petah Tikva, while the lowest rate is in Be’er Sheva (66%).

On the feeling of personal safety walking alone in a residential area after dark, the rate of men who feel safe walking alone in their residential area after dark is significantly higher than the rate among women (80.8% compared to 64.7%, respectively).

On the fear of being harmed by crime and/or violence in the residential area, 17.3% stated that they were afraid of being harmed by crime and/or violence in their residential area.

The rate among Arabs is higher than the rate among Jews and others (25.8% compared to 15.3%, respectively).

The rate of those who are afraid among victims of a violent crime or threat of violence (34%) is more than twice as high as the rate among those who were not victimized (16.6%); and among victims of theft – 26.7% compared to 17%, respectively.
