More Than 500,000 Senior Citizens Take Advantage of Free Public Transportation Since Launch of Service
Jerusalem, 26 August, 2025 (TPS-IL) — In less than four months since the launch of the second wave of the “Transportation Justice” reform initiated and promoted by the Minister of Transportation, Miri Regev, the 500,000th passenger today joined the ranks of senior citizens who already enjoy unlimited free travel on all public transportation lines using the “Zehav-Kav” (Gold Line) card.
The Ministry of Transportation estimates that a significant portion of those joining are private car owners who have not previously used public transportation, and the significant benefit of free travel to any destination and any means of transportation is expected to convince many of them to leave their cars at home and switch to public transportation, thus contributing to reducing traffic congestion on the roads and improving the quality of life for everyone.
