Jerusalem, 11 June, 2025 (TPS-IL) — In May 2025, compared to May 2024, there was a mixed trend in imports of white goods (large appliances) and entertainment electronics. This is according to data released by the Israel Tax Authority.
Refrigerators and washing machines recorded a decrease of 18.2% and 79%, respectively.
Imports of tumble dryers and dishwashers increased by 17.1% and 27.7%, respectively.
Since the beginning of the year, imports of refrigerators and dishwashers have increased by 29.8% and 10.6% respectively. Imports of washing machines and dryers, on the other hand, have decreased by 16.4% and 1.4%.
Television imports decreased by 17.1% in May 2025 compared to the same month last year.
Cumulatively, January – May 2025 was a decrease of 10.8% compared to January – May 2024.
Cigarette imports fell by 14.8% in May 2025. The value of imports, however, rose by 2.2%. In the period January – May 2025, there was a decrease in quantity by 5.7% compared to January – May 2024 and an increase in import value of 16.2%. This is likely due to imports of more expensive cigarettes.
The value of other tobacco imports, which includes smoking tobacco, hookah tobacco, pipe tobacco, cigars, and heating tobacco units, decreased in May 2025 by 9.3% compared to May 2024, after a significant increase in April 2025. Cumulatively since the beginning of the year, there was an increase of 7%.
The total value of all imports in May 2025 amounted to $7.6 billion, an increase of 6.2% compared to the value of imports in May 2024. The increase is due, in large part, to an increase in vehicle imports.
