Ministry of Health in a New Video – This is How You Provide Mental First Aid – In Four Simple Actions

When a person is in mental distress, the support of those close to them is important and can significantly ease the difficulty they are experiencing.
Precisely for this reason, and as part of its response to the public, *the Ministry of Health, in collaboration with the Haruv Institute, produced a new informational video featuring Arik Ze’evi, a mentor and Olympic medalist.
The video explains how four simple actions allow you to reduce stress and anxiety and help another person, without the need for training or a background in mental health.

The Haruv Institute works to promote the right of children to a life free from violence, while caring for the safety and well-being of children who are victims of abuse and neglect.
Mental first aid skills, implemented through the FEAC (MAASEH) model developed by Dr. Moshe Farhi of Tel Hai College, allow a person who has experienced a traumatic event to return to full and effective functioning within a few minutes and reduce the chance of developing traumatic symptoms.

In addition, the Ministry of Health is making a new website available to the public, focusing on mental health issues – “In a Healthy Mind”
The website includes extensive information on rehabilitation, resilience centers, suicide prevention, and answers to many questions that arise in the field.

The Ministry of Health reminds anyone who needs it, that they can contact the resilience centers and the emergency and emotional support centers of the HMOs in order to receive psychological assistance

Since the launch of Operation Rising Lion, the Ministry of Health, through the Mental Health Division, has been working to strengthen the mental support array for the general public, as part of dealing with the implications of the evolving security situation. The response includes primary care for those suffering from shock, emotional support in the community, telephone psychological counseling services and the operation of mental health clinics nationwide.
