Ministers sign $20M deal to improve cellular reception on Israel railways. Boosting mobile connectivity for daily passengers. NIS 68 million for signal
Jerusalem, 21 September, 2025 (TPS-IL) — Israel is moving to boost mobile connectivity on trains, following a successful pilot project. On Sunday, Communications Minister Dr. Shlomo Karhi and Transportation Minister Miri Regev signed a groundbreaking agreement allowing cellular companies to install dozens of new sites on railway property rent-free, provided they are operational within two years.
The initiative also includes NIS 68 million ($20.3 million) for slotted train windows, already installed in 30 cars, to enhance signal absorption. Officials said the plan will ensure high-quality reception for hundreds of thousands of daily passengers and may include WiFi and tunnel coverage upgrades.
