Millions Allocated to Fund Youth Volunteers in Israeli Agriculture

Jerusalem, 27 October, 2025 (TPS-IL) — The government of Israel approved a plan for the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security to support young Israeli volunteers in agriculture with funding of approximately 93 million Shekels ($28.5 million) over the next five years. The support budget this year will amount to approximately 23 million Shekels ($7 million).

“The decision provides budgetary certainty for the next five years, and allows for strengthening the volunteer system and deepening the younger generation’s connection to Israeli agriculture,” said the Ministry.

The investment is part of broader initiatives led by the ministry to strengthen the connection between young people and agriculture, including the establishment of the new division for the promotion of Israeli agriculture, which works, among other things, to encourage a new and younger generation of farmers, to strengthen education for working the land, and to promote training programs in agriculture after military service.

Additional initiatives led by the ministry on the subject include support for new farmers, social educational projects such as the Youth Village established in the settlement of Yavol in the south, and programs to strengthen the connection between youth and the world of agriculture through the education system and local authorities.
