Jerusalem, 11 June, 2025 (TPS-IL) — About 30,000–35,000 lung patients in Israel are eligible annually for pulmonary rehabilitation, yet only 20% access these vital services, mainly due to low availability—especially in peripheral areas—and insufficient investment from health funds and hospitals, experts told the Knesset Health Committee on Wednesday.
This was attributed to the low availability of treatment in peripheral areas and the lack of investment in the field by health funds and hospitals.
Current reimbursement rates are too low to encourage expansion, and waiting times can reach 18 months. Lawmakers called for updated pricing, better funding, and increased transparency from the health services.
