‘Life of Sarah’ Shabbat in Hebron Sees 13 Arrests

Jerusalem, 16 November, 2025 (TPS-IL) — The Police and IDF (Israel Defense Forces) soldiers worked throughout the weekend to secure the Chayei Sarah” (Life of Sarah) Shabbat events at the Tomb of the Patriarchs and in the Jewish areas of Hebron, with the participation of approximately 26,000 visitors. There were no unusual incidents that compromised public safety.

Chayei Sarah is the weekly Tora portion to be read this Shabbat. It tells the story of the death of the matriarch Sarah and how the patriarch Abraham bought the Cave of the Patriarchs in Hebron for the family’s burial site.

The forces worked to maintain security, public order, manage traffic, and provide a rapid response to any incident, in close coordination with all security agencies and the local authority.

Over the weekend, 13 people involved were arrested and questioned for assault, violence, trespassing, public order offenses, and sexual harassment. Some were imprisoned and some were released on conditions based on investigation and evidence considerations.
