Jerusalem, 23 July, 2025 (TPS-IL) — Israel’s Police Commissioner Danny Levy held a special discussion held Wednesday evening on the issue of the wave of violence and crime in Israel’s Arab communities, with the participation of the senior command of the Israel Police, where he declared the fight on violent crime among Israeli Arabs to be a “top priority national challenge.”

During the discussion, the Commissioner was presented with the operational situation, crime trends, and targeted approaches to dealing with the incidents, with an emphasis on the fact that this is an ongoing and long-term struggle, not a one-off response. Work plans are already being implemented in the field, and the focus now is on increasing intensity and continuity.

“We cannot accept the cases of murder in Arab society in particular and violent crime in general,” the Commissioner emphasized during the discussion, “this is a top-priority national challenge. It is our duty – as a society and as an organization – to make use of all the means at our disposal, to carry out targeted reinforcement, to focus forces, and to act decisively with the goal of eradicating the wave of violence and strengthening the sense of security for Israeli citizens”

At the end of the discussion, the Commissioner clarified the guidelines for the continued implementation of the operational work plan, while maintaining and strengthening existing actions – ongoing deployment of forces and special units, intelligence focus, enforcement, and investigation, and close cooperation with all relevant entities, with one clear goal: to strengthen security and governance.
