Jerusalem, 2 July, 2025 (TPS-IL) — The import reform “What’s good for Europe – good for Israel” is expanding with the entry into force of the fifth wave on Tuesday. The wave includes medical equipment and cleaning products. As part of the reform, it will be possible to import these products in accordance with European standards, thereby expanding the variety, increasing competition and reducing prices for Israeli consumers. Among the products included in the wave: thermometers, surgical gloves, plasters, syringes, bleach, dishwasher materials, dish soap and more.
These products were previously included in a group of products that required an expensive bureaucratic procedure, and are now moving to a more lenient group. This transition is expected to simplify and reduce the import procedure for importers and save on costs associated with this procedure.
The “What’s good for Europe” program lessens Israel’s import standards to the European level of regulations. As Israel’s regulations have traditionally been stricter, the reforms are intended to increase the number of products allowed for import, thereby increasing competition and lowering prices for consumers.
So far, four phases have been carried out, within the framework of which hundreds of consumer products can be imported in accordance with European standards, including:
Toys for children, including those intended for children under 3 years of age
Baby strollers, trampolines, walkers
Baby furniture, including beds, playpens, cribs, high chairs and changing devices
Bicycles for adults and children
Diapers, pacifiers, bottles, bottle and nipple holders, and baby feeding utensils
Children’s jewelry and more
Food processors, blenders and mixers, grills, chippers, meat grinders
Coffee machines, refrigerators, ice cream and ice making devices, electric spoon, toasters
Glassware and ceramics, disposable utensils, plastic utensils, tampons, agricultural tarps, ladders, carpets
