Israel’s Education and Health Sectors Most Affected by Operation Rising Lion

Operation Rising Lion impacts Israel's education and health sectors the most, with thousands of workers absent as schools and services close. Period.

Gil Tanenbaum Breaking News

Jerusalem, 13 August, 2025 (TPS-IL) — Israel’s Ministry of Labor released the data on the impact that Operation Rising Lion against Iran had on the labor market in June 2025.

The most severe impact was recorded in the education sector where 51,000 workers were absent from work as all schools were closed, health and welfare services (34,000 fewer), and industry (30,600 absent).

In contrast, the construction sector was hardly affected, likely due to its status as an essential sector, in contrast to the beginning of the Iron Sword War, when it experienced a sharp decline, following restrictions on the entry of Palestinian workers and the subsequent closure of construction sites.

Approximately 56,700 workers were absent from their jobs in June due to reserve military service: more than double the number in the months preceding the operation, following widespread mobilization, with the outbreak of Rising Lion.
