Jerusalem, 23 June, 2025 (TPS-IL) — Israel’s National Security Council (NSC) once again warned Israelis to avoid the Sinai in Egypt, a popular destination for vacationers. However, in light of the continuation of Operation “Rising Lion” against Iran, and in accordance with the security constraints closing air traffic in Israel, many Israelis are choosing to return home via Sinai, which borders Israel to the south.

As such, the NSC recommended that returning Israelis using this route choose to land at Taba Airport – just south of Eilat – and from there head directly to the Taba Crossing into Israel (which is located near the airport) and not remain in Sinai.

It should be emphasized that the NSC’s travel warning level for Sinai is in effect – Level 4 – high threat and a recommendation not to travel there.

However, if Israelis/Jews find themselves in Sinai, it is recommended to adhere to the NSC’s guidelines and to minimize expressions that reveal they are Israeli/Jewish.
