Israelis Abroad Warned of Terrorist Threats Ahead of Upcoming Jewish Holidays

Jerusalem, 17 September, 2025 (TPS-IL) — In preparation for the Jewish holiday season that begins with the start of Rosh Hashana next Monday night, Israel’s National Security Agency published its latest assessment of the threat to Israelis traveling and living abroad from terrorist elements.

“The recent period has been characterized by continued efforts to carry out attacks against Israeli and Jewish targets by various terrorist groups (most of them led by Iran and Hamas),” said the Agency. “In this context, dozens of attack routes have been thwarted, while in the past six months, several prominent incidents of violent physical attacks and terrorist activities have been recorded, alongside instances of verbal anti-Semitism and incitement on social media.”

Main trends:
Iran continues to be the main perpetrator of terrorism against Israelis and Jews around the world, both directly and through its proxies. In this context, also during the past year, dozens of Iranian-directed terrorist plots were thwarted, including attempted attacks against Israeli missions abroad, former Israeli officials, and various Israeli and Jewish targets.

Hamas, in parallel with the war in Gaza, is expanding its activities to establish infrastructure and promote attacks against Jews and Israelis abroad.

Global jihad organizations and radical Islam (“Islamic State” – ISIS, alongside Al-Qaeda, Al-Shabaab and various groups around the world), continue to pose a threat, with their calls to attack Jewish and Israeli targets around the world in the background, in addition to the threat posed by local initiatives/individual attackers.
