Israeli strikes targeted homes sheltering senior Houthi officials in Sanaa
Jerusalem, 28 August, 2025 (TPS-IL) — Israel strikes senior Houthi officials in Sanaa on Thuursday following Defense Minister Israel Katz’s statement earlier this week that “today we delivered the Houthis a blow of darkness, and later – there will also be a blow of the firstborn.”
Katz made the remark on Sunday while visiting the Air Force command bunker with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, IDF Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir, and the Air Force commander Tomer Bar to observe airstrikes in Sanaa carried out in response to a missile fired at Israel on Friday night.
During the visit, Netanyahu said, “The Houthi terror regime is learning the hard way that it is paying, and will continue to pay, a very heavy price for its aggression against the State of Israel.”
The IDF Spokesperson confirmed that the Air Force conducted a precise strike against a military target of the Houthi terror regime in the Sanaa area of Yemen.
“The Houthi terror regime, directed and funded by Iran, has acted with aggression since the beginning of the Iron Swords War to harm Israel and its allies, destabilize regional security, and disrupt global freedom of navigation. The IDF is striking the Houthi terror regime with force, alongside intensifying its campaign against the Hamas terror organization in Gaza, and will continue to act to remove any threat against the citizens of Israel,” said the IDF Spokesperson statement.
The IAF strike on Thursday comes just hours after two drones launched from Yemen were intercepted en route.
