Jerusalem, 12 May, 2025 (TPS-IL) — The Israel Defense Forces says it is preparing for the release of hostage soldier Edan Alexander from Hamas captivity in Gaza today. After Hamas hands Alexander over to Red Cross representatives, Alexander he will be transferred to IDF special forces inside Gaza and then to a facility at the Re’im base. There, he will undergo initial physical and mental evaluations and reunite with his family.

He is expected to be airlifted to Sourasky Hospital in Tel Aviv for further care. In case of a medical emergency, he will be rushed directly to either Soroka Hospital in Beer-Sheva or Barzilai Hospital in Ashkelon.

The time of the handover remains unknown.
