Israeli Kids Make History Taking Home Six Medals – Four Gold – at the International Mathematical Olympiad

Jerusalem, 21 July, 2025 (TPS-IL) — The Israeli mathematics team had a historic achievement in Australia this year by winning six Olympic medals (four gold, one silver and one bronze) and ranking 6th out of 110 countries from around the world, at the International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO).

The International Mathematical Olympiad was held for the 66th time (founded in 1959) this year and Israel has been participating in it since 1979. This is the highest achievement ever achieved by the Israeli team, after its members competed this year against 639 competitors from 110 countries.

The Israeli mathematics team that represented Israel with honor included:

Raz Dvora – from Rehovot, a 12th grader at De Shalit High School – won a gold medal
Greenside Eitan – Petach Tikva, 12th grade student from Ahad Ha’am High School – won a gold medal
Blumenzwig Shahar – from Modi’in, 11th grade student at Atid Science High School in Lod – won a gold medal
Yotam Budnik – from Rehovot, an eleventh-grade student at De Shalit High School – won a gold medal
Nadav Dan Tamari – from Ramat Gan, a 12th grade student at Ohel Shem High School – won a silver medal
Ariel Doron – from Ramat Hasharon, a 12th grade student at Kfar Hayrok – won a bronze medal

The IMO is the World Championship Mathematics Competition for High School students and is held annually in a different country. The first IMO was held in 1959 in Romania, with 7 countries participating. It has gradually expanded to over 100 countries from 5 continents. The IMO Board ensures that the competition takes place each year and that each host country observes the regulations and traditions of the IMO.
