Jerusalem, 10 June, 2025 (TPS-IL) — Israeli company Medinol has announced the first U.S. use of its new heart-pressure sensor, developed by its subsidiary Microtech. The tiny device was implanted on May 16 at New York-Presbyterian/Columbia by Dr. Koji Takeda. The sensor tracks pressure in the heart’s upper chambers (atria) using ultrasound, without any electronics or wires. It helps doctors monitor heart function more closely, especially in patients with heart failure.

Five patients in Israel have already received the device. The U.S. and Israeli procedures are part of a joint study expected to include about 15 people. Medinol says the results so far show strong promise.
