Israeli Foreign Minister Rejects French Initiative to Recognize Palestinian State
Jerusalem, 8 September, 2025 (TPS-IL) — Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar on Monday rejected efforts to recognize a Palestinian state, describing it as a potential “terrorist state” in the heart of Israel.
Speaking after a meeting with Hungarian Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó in Budapest, Sa’ar argued that the Palestinian Authority continues to support and reward terrorism, incite against Israel, and maintain ties with extremist groups. He warned that creating such a state would threaten Israel’s existence, destabilize the region, and incentivize groups like Hamas to prolong conflict.
Sa’ar criticized the French initiative to recognize Palestinian statehood, saying it undermines Security and rewards terrorism, and urged world leaders to take a clear stance against Palestinian statehood under the current conditions.
