Israeli Foreign Minister Blames European Diplomatic Pressure for Hamas’s Intransigence

Israeli Foreign Minister blames European diplomatic pressure for Hamas's intransigence, hindering ceasefire prospects, pushing towards security escalation.

Pesach Benson Breaking News

Jerusalem, 29 July, 2025 (TPS-IL) — European diplomatic pressure on Israel is causing Hamas to dig in its heels and pushing off the chances of a ceasefire, Israeli Foriegn Minister Gideon Sa’ar told reporters in Jerusalem on Tuesday.

“International pressure on Israel in these critical days of negotiations on a ceasefire and a hostage deal has already caused Hamas to harden its positions. This pressure directly sabotages the prospects for a ceasefire and a hostage deal. It only pushes towards a security escalation by hardening Hamas’s position,” Sa’ar said.

“Anyone who is concerned about the humanitarian situation must ask themselves, ‘Who is responsible for the suffering of the residents of Gaza? Who is responsible for the war and its continuation?’ There is only one clear answer: Hamas. Hamas started the war with the massacre of October 7. Hamas is responsible for the continuation of the war by refusing to release the hostages.”
