Jerusalem, 20 November, 2025 (TPS-IL) — IDF (Israel Defense Forces) said its special forces uncovered in southern Rafah the underground route where Hadar Goldin, a soldier held hostage in Gaza, was kept in recent years. The tunnel was more than seven kilometers long, about 25 meters deep, and had about 80 rooms, including control rooms that were used by senior commanders in the Hamas terror regime to store weapons, stay for extended periods, and plan terrorist operations against Israeli forces.
“This is one of the most significant and complex underground routes to be uncovered so far in the Gaza Strip,” said the IDF.
The route passes under a dense residential neighborhood near the Philadelphia Route on Gaza’s border with Egypt and continues through sensitive civilian areas, including an UNRWA (UN Relief Works Agency) compound, mosques, clinics, kindergartens and schools.
