Israeli Fish Farmers Get $38.1M Boost in National Food Security Push

Jerusalem, 25 June, 2025 (TPS-IL) — The Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security will provide approximately NIS 130 million ($38.1 million) in direct support to Israel’s fishing and aquaculture industries during 2025-2026. This aid targets fish farmers in ponds and fishermen in the Sea of Galilee, aiming to rehabilitate the sector after a 40% decline since 2016 due to reduced import tariffs.

The support seeks to strengthen local production, enhance food security, and encourage domestic fish farming.
