Israeli Artificial Cornea Restores 20/20 Vision to Shingles-Blinded Patient
Jerusalem, 3 September, 2025 (TPS-IL) — Israeli medtech company CorNeat Vision announced a breakthrough after its artificial cornea successfully restored perfect 20/20 vision to a patient blinded by shingles-related corneal scarring.
The patient, previously ineligible for corneal transplantation, regained sight following implantation of the CorNeat KPro device at Beilinson Hospital in Petah Tikva and has maintained stable vision for 11 months.
The synthetic implant integrates with the eye wall, eliminating the need for donor tissue while providing long-term stability and natural aesthetics. The milestone comes as CorNeat’s RESEE clinical trial reaches 50% enrollment. CEO Almog Aley-Raz will present interim results at the European Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery meeting in Copenhagen later this month.
