Jerusalem, 27 October, 2025 (TPS-IL) — Israel’s Ministry of Health announced a new labeling method for food products: The intentional presence of an allergen or substance that causes intolerance in a food product will be marked by highlighting its name in the list of ingredients in a way that distinguishes it from the inscription of the other ingredients in the food and using a uniform method.
This is in accordance with the adoption of European regulations from January 2028.
As part of the move, a list of allergens and substances that cause intolerance was determined, and requirements for their labeling on the product label in which they are present, while emphasizing their names in the list of ingredients, in a way that will distinguish them from the labeling of other ingredients in the food and while using their names uniformly. According to the new regulations, the method of highlighting will be chosen by the food business. In addition, requirements were set for labeling “gluten” and the presence of “wheat” in products.
All food products marketed in Israel will be required to have this labeling starting in January 2028, however, some food businesses that meet certain conditions can already choose to go ahead and label according to the new requirements.
