Pesach Benson Breaking News

Jerusalem, 4 September, 2025 (TPS-IL) — Israel has agreed to pay Roman Zadorov 17 million shekels ($5 million) in compensation for the 15 years he spent in prison for the 2006 murder of 13-year-old Tair Rada. Zadorov, now 47, was a maintenance worker at the school in Katzrin where Rada was killed. The Ukrainian immigrant was convicted in 2010 based on a confession later deemed coerced. Granted a retrial, Zadorov was acquitted in March 2023.

The settlement, submitted Thursday to the Tel Aviv District Court for approval, is the largest ever awarded in Israel to someone wrongfully imprisoned and later exonerated.
